About the DCA

"Preparing Today for a Career Tomorrow"

The Delaware Career Association of the Jobs for Delaware Graduates is a student organization that was established to provide the JDG Student with opportunities to associate with other JDG members in their school, in the community, throughout the state and at the National level.  As a member of this unique organization the student will develop Leadership, Social, Civic and Career skills and potential.

The DCA is a vital component of JDG and is designed to:  

• Assist the student to develop confidence, poise and a positive attitude.
• Assist the student to acquire skills to successfully enhance interest in and communication with supervisors and coworkers.
• Help the student develop and define career goals and plans for the years immediately following graduation.
• Stimulate the student's initiative and leadership.
• Provide the student with opportunities for interaction among peers and supervisors.
• Promote within the student respect for the dignity of work.
• Provide the student with a contemporary tool for learning.
• Assist the student to display strong coping skills - to face a problem rather than to escape.
• Assist the student to display a sense of social responsibility, a respect for right and wrong and for others' property.
• Provide an outlet for the student's enthusiasm through a well directed, guided social program.
• Stimulate the student's school spirit and interest in the school's activities in general.
• Broaden the student's perspective through programs, publications and personal contacts in the local and state organizations.
• Help the student develop a feeling of pride in accomplishment.
• Provide the opportunity for the student to develop personal goals and to help the student evaluate their progress toward attaining those goals.
